Since there is generally very little opportunity for advertising on beaches we provide you with a new way to advertise whilst simultaneously preventing cigarette litter. Think how nice that would be.

The Postcard Beach Ashtray

Essentially, the Postcard Beach Ashtray is a self-assembly beach ashtray that can be used for advertising and promotion, whilst simultaneously preventing cigarette litter on beaches; by giving smokers somewhere handy to extinguish and store their cigarettes butts.

Print Services: Advertising & Promotion

Here’s how it all works…

  1. You order as many as you need and we will print your design and promotional messages onto it – both sides are available to print on, just like a postcard (size: 105mm x 148mm). We can also print multiple runs are possible. We can print up to 8 designs simultaneously allowing you a really good deal on smaller runs.
  2. You distribute them to people, just like you would a promotional postcard – by either handing them out in beach areas or making them available as a “take one” item in shops, bars, tourist information points, cafes etc.
  3. People on beaches see your promotional message and assemble the postcard into a beach ashtray, where your message will still be visible. As a beach ashtray, it will effectively prevent cigarette litter and keep the beach clean!
  4. After use, the beach ashtray can be emptied and stored flat for reuse or recycling, or used as a voucher and redeemed at the advertiser’s venue – i.e. free entry to a nightclub or tourist attraction. The card we use is FSC certified and is recyclable.

Using the ashtray on beaches

The Postcard Beach Ashtray is assembled into a beach ashtray and placed into the beach sand. A handful of sand is then put inside the beach ashtray – this sand is used for extinguishing and storing cigarettes. It’s as easy as that!

When leaving the beach, the ashtray is removed from the sand and lightly shaken to help the sand drain from the hole at the bottom, leaving only cigarette ends inside.

The Postcard Beach Ashtray can then either be disposed of, emptied and stored flat for reusing, or emptied and used to redeem an offer that may be printed onto the Postcard Beach Ashtray.

Since there is generally very little opportunity for advertising on beaches, the Postcard Beach Ashtray will be noticed by many people on the beach; and not just by the ashtray’s user – other people on the beach will see it too. As an advertising device, it works as both a promotional postcard and also a promotional beach ashtray – two promotional opportunities in one very useful product.

We can print on both sides, just like a promotional postcard – so you can have everything you need printed on it; your unique design, messages, maps to your outlets/venues, promotional offers… absolutely anything!

Show the world your company cares.

    Love the idea!

These things will be used, I’m sure of it. Would love to see companies distributing these, especially from shops and kiosks near the beaches around Malta.

Do want a couple of these for summer :)

Awesome idea! It’s a fantastic way to keep our beaches clean and at the same time a unique tool on how to market your product. If you were to use recyclable cardboard, this would make your product perfect. Good luck! :)

would be much easier and better to prohibit smoking on beaches like in the US.

  12. Joseph Caruana says:

Everyone making a decent profit from the beaches here in Malta should take part in this initiative and shoulder the responsibility by educating their public and giving out one of these cone with every packet of cigarettes bought from them.

  13. Mark Warner says:

Great idea. It’s a win-win all round. A win for other beach users not having to sift cigarette butts from the sand around them, for the environment, for the smokers and for the companies willing to take a punt.

  17. Hi Karl,
Thank you very much for the email!
And may I congratulate you on such a well thought out, and innovative approach to both marketing and helping the environment!

Having read through some of the comments, I can wholeheartedly agree it is one of those “I cant believe nobody has thought of this” ideas.
I will be sure to pass on the info you have sent me, and we’ll see what comes of it!

I have already shown it to my partner on the show Jay, and he agreed with me that something like this should be backed by the government, get on their backs my friend!
They should be made available at EVERY beach!

Thanks again for the info, and may I wish you all the very best!

    Kind regards,

Perhaps a more realistic and lasting impact on the environment as a whole would be to focus your efforts and resources on an aggresive anti-smoking campaign, whilst highlighting the omnipotent problem of littering in Malta.
